Orihime Inoue has been with us since the very beginning all the way to the end. It's hard not to fall in love with her cheery, optimistic and caring attitude amidst all the chaos and heartache in the series. Orihime shows great strength in her pacificism, standing strong and resilient in the face of tremendous dangers and formidable foes.

Who is Orihime Inoue?

For those you might not know Orihime Inoue (how could you not, honestly?), she is one of the main characters of Tite Kubo's Bleach and a wonderfully joyous character to follow. Kind, charming, witty and empathetic to boot, Orihime has been a source of comfort and optimisim amidst the wars and internal battles of the series.

We first meet her as a high school student of Karakura High School best friends with Tatsuki Arisawa and Ichigo Kurosaki, who later becomes her husband. They even have a son together named Kazui! How cute. Throughout the series we watch as Orihime grows in both resilience and strength in herself as well as her newfound powers.

Orihime has been apart of a wide array of notorious battles and has stood as a crucial part to these fights, whether she is supporting or actively engaged in battle. Through it all, it is impossible not to root for her and cheer for every one of her successes.

Powers and abilities of Orihime Inoue

Orihime Inoue has a very cool ability, Shun Shun Rika, that is entirely unique to her and allows her to perform a myriad of abilities. But that's not all she can do. Despite this supernatural power of hers, Orihime has incredible skills of her own, even as a human. Maybe not so well-known, but no less important, is her hand-to-hand combat prowess. Taught to her by her friend Tatsuki Arisawa, Orihime is rather capable in close-quarters combat despite her pacifist nature.

Shun Shun Rika

There is a lot to say about Orihime Inoue's Shun Shun Rika. For starters, it is a brilliant display of versatilty and the essence of who Orihime is. Not just in it's meaning, Six Princess Shielding Powers, but in it's different abilities. So, just what can this unique ability do? Well, it's a bit of a complicated answer.

Essentially, Shun Shun Rika allows Orihime to reject any phenomena or event. This takes the form of defence, attacking and, most prominently, healing. Her defence is a means of rejecting an incoming attack and her healing could be interpreted as rejecting the events that caused the harm to others.

Sealed off in Orihime's six-petal flower hair clips, upon activation Shun Shun Rika releases six spirits that reside in each petal. These spirits are seperate manifestations of Orihime Inoue's spirit, each named after a flower: Ayame, Baigon, Hinagiku, Lily, Shun'o and Tsubaki.

Through various combinations and certain incantations, Orihime Inoue combines her spirits to perform their respective abilities. Ayame and Shun'o are in charge of healing. Shun Shun Rika's defences are powered by Baigon, Hinagiku and Lily, whilst Tsubaki is the only spirit capable of direct attacks and so acts as Orihime's way of attacking.
