BLEACH SPOTLIGHT: VIZARD

For today’s fandom article, we will be bringing you a special spread on one of the most influential groups to bear special and unique powers in the fandom, the Vizard! The Vizard are a select group of Shinigami in the series that have special capabilities and work for their own personal reasons. And if you thought the collection of Vizard in the fandom was small, our own WoR community of Vizard is even smaller! So first, let’s explore what Vizard actually are!
 

THE CREATION OF THE VIZARD

Vizard were originally created by the use of the Hōgyoku by Sosuke Aizen. This usage deleted the barrier within the soul between a Shinigami and a Hollow, allowing for greater expansion of power. However, most people were not compatible with this process and among the ones Aizen tested on, only a few lived through it. The Vizard that survived were Shinji Hirako, Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi, Mashiro Kuna, Love Aikawa, Hiyori Sarugaki, Lisa Yadōmaru, Hachigen Ushōda, and Kensei Muguruma. These members of the Gotei 13 were taken to the human world by Kisuke Urahara and Tessai Tsukabishi to be healed of their affliction. Of course, another Vizard that exists is Ichigo Kurosaki, but his powers were more of an early manifestation of his inner hollow powers that have always been with him.

WHAT CAN VIZARD DO?

The powers of the Vizard are primarily a greater boost of the powers they possessed as Shinigami. Their speed, strength, agility, fighting capability, and spiritual pressure increase drastically through the use of a hollow mask that they put on in battle. This mask looks very similar to a hollow mask, and can differ in appearance for each vizard. While the mask is on, it can also greatly amplify their bankai capability, though so far no vizard has used their bankai whilst wearing the mask except for Ichigo Kurosaki. Still, it appears it can cause devastating damage, such as when Ichigo was able to block a direct cero from Ulquiorra Cifer with little damage to himself. Vizard also gain the ability to fire a cero, a power unique to hollow beings like Arrancar and, of course, all classes of hollow.

BECOME A VIZARD!

Over on World of Reapers, the Vizard community only extends to four; Lieutenant Katsumi Fujimori, Captain Kazuhiko Kishimoto, Kurisuten Mua, and Deputy Head Captain Sayuri Miho. On the site, we have seen the powers of a Vizard in action a few times, but it is a very destructive power to have, so naturally all of our Vizard only use it when completely necessary! Vizard powers on WoR are exactly the same in nature to the Bleach Vizard, allowing them to use a hollow mask and even fire a cero! However, should they use their bankai in battle with their mask, they will create a whole new level of power, a hollowfied bankai!

However, if you wish to become a vizard, you can only be a Shinigami to gain it.
