Hello everyone in the Soul Society and beyond. Welcome to this new blog series written by me, Takehiko Saito, the current daytime runner of the World of Reapers Powers Club! As well as Publicist team member and 19th Seat of the 5th Division. Today I thought I'd give all of you a new blog series focused entirely on the powers and abilities of our WoR personnel and pitch them against fandom characters of equal calibre. This will involve a full analysis of each character's powers and conclude with a match up to see who might win/lose or if we have a draw! So first, let's take a look at two great ice type users, Captain Kanai Miho and Captain Toshiro Hitsugaya!
 

TOSHIRO HITSUGAYA - HYORINMARU

Hyorinmaru, the most powerful ice type zanpakutō of them all. Let's take a look at the strengths Hyorinmaru has and its abilities. Hyorinmaru is a special ice type as it doesn't need water nearby to generate ice. Not to mention the fact that Toshiro's control over Hyorinmaru allows him to sometimes use bankai abilities whilst it is in shikai.

Now, in Shikai form, Hyorinmaru has the power to freeze anything it touches when a dragon-shaped length of ice is thrown from the tip of the blade. However, any contact with any part of the blade will also freeze whatever it is in contact with. In this form, Hyorinmaru can independently control the weather in the vicinity, specifically the water in the atmosphere. It can also create ice traps and protective ice barriers.

Now, for Bankai, we will be looking at Toshiro's complete form of bankai. In this form, Hyorinmaru's freezing capability is dramatically amplified, to the point where he can even freeze powers with it. Toshiro can even flash freeze things with only a hand gesture and anything that touches him will also freeze. If Toshiro builds up his power for only four seconds, he can freeze anything in front of him.

KANAI MIHO - FUYU NO KUNSHU

Fuyu no Kunshu, one of only two known ice type zanpakutō in the WoR Soul Society. When released, Fuyu no Kunshu has a primarily different effect, releasing itself in the form of numerous blue butterflies that Kanai controls. These butterflies have the ability to cut like a blade and freeze her enemies.

Fuyu no Kunshu has the ability to attack and defend at the same time by cutting Kanai's enemies and surrounding her for defence. When these butterflies land on an opponent, it will begin to freeze the enemy. These butterflies can also cast a wall of ice as well as create platforms for Kanai to move with.

Now, with these blogs we decided that it's best to match up characters as easily as possible, so if Hitsugaya has bankai, dammit Kanai needs one too and she came up with a brilliant imaginary bankai for us to do comparison with! Mafuyu no Yukinokesshō, Snowflakes in the Dead of Winter. Chilly indeed, this bankai takes Kanai's Shikai butterflies by shattering them into tiny pieces that look like simple snowflakes. These flakes are controlled by her like a blizzard which can freeze anything they come into contact with. She an also use her Shikai abilities in bankai as well, but greatly amplified, and can even cause people to see things if a snowflake lands in their eyes.

FINAL BATTLE - HYORINMARU vs FUYU NO KUNSHU

And now we go to the final analysis! Would there be a clear winner here or no? Well, in a game of shikai versus shikai, Kanai does just take the cake in this fight. Whilst it's true that Hyorinmaru is overtly powerful as a zanpakuto, Fuyu no Kunshu trumps it purely due to the advantage of range. Kanai wouldn't even need to move to hit Hitsugaya, whereas he needs to get a strike in for much to happen. Apart from this, it's an even match with both zanpakuto being able to freeze anything upon contact and having similar attacking and defending abilities. This would be a long battle from both of them.

However, in a bankai versus bankai battle... Daiguren Hyorinmaru cleans house. The man can basically Thanos snap an opponent's powers into paralysis. Mafuyu no Yukinokesshō would need to act real damn fast to one up on Hitsugaya, perhaps a snowflake in the eye would work wonders, but then we must ask if it would work or if the snowflake would freeze further and become unable to use upon contact with Hitsugaya?
