BLEACH SPOTLIGHT: Nanao Ise

Character profiling is always fun, right?! Well today we have another fun little piece of a blog to bring to you all in the from of another Bleach Spotlight! Today, we are gonna have a look at one of the most prolific characters that has everyone abuzz with chatter at the moment: Nanao Ise!

For those of you that still haven't started watching or reading the Thousand Year Blood War Arc or at least haven't gotten to part three of the anime yet, we will keep spoilers out of this. However, we will say that Nanao Ise's story is going to be told all in full in the upcoming episode being released this week! So, let's instead take you all back in time to the very beginning of the show and follow Nanao's story from there!
 

8TH DIVISION LIEUTENANT NANAO ISE

Nanao Ise’s story begins during the Ryoka Invasion, when Ichigo and crew head to the Soul Society to rescue Rukia. When Sado runs off to start his own battle, Nanao Ise notices him from a window and asks her captain, Shunsui Kyōraku, if she needs to defeat him. She also nearly kills Sado after discovering he was still alive after his fight with Kyoraku, but instead is ordered to take him to the 4th Division for healing. Nanao doesn’t do much else during this arc apart from get suffocated by Yamamoto’s power when Kyoraku and Ukitake go off to fight him near the end of the arc.

NANAO ISE AND THE BLOD WAR

Unfortunately, we don’t get to see much of Nanao in the Arrancar arc apart from her aiding her Captain and Ukitake in searching for clues as to Aizen’s master plan in the Daireishokairō. So far though, Nanao has had a fair amount of screen time in the Thousand Year Blood War arc, being essential to the defense of the Soul Society and even going face to face with Jugram Haschwalth so far!

However, with the new episode coming up, we will soon get to look deep into the backstory of Ise and her family, as well as learning about her true connection to Shunsui Kyoraku, and probably the most important aspect that we want to learn about; her zanpakutō. Nanao Ise is one of the two female side characters that everyone has really been looking forward to seeing propelled to the forefront of our viewing (the other of course being Mayuri’s creation Nemu), and soon enough we will have all that we have been waiting for!
