Greetings to all those who reside within the Soul Society! I really have to come up with better intros. Today we are bringing you yet another of your very favourite Blog series, the WoR One v One, where we take one of our site members and put their powers up against one of the members of the Bleach fandom!

Now then, to our battle of the week! Last time our 11th Division Officer Okano Himura put the Arrancar power of her La Madre Cuervo against the powers of 6th Division Captain Byakuya Kuchiki and his Senbonzakura. Today, we are going to have a Shinigami versus Quincy battle and one that I considered not writing, but why not? Today Sternritter T, Candice Catnipp will battle her lighting against an equal foe: myself, 5th Division Lieutenant Takehiko Saito!
 

Candice Catnipp - The Thunderbolt / Barbarriel

So to begin our battle, we have the powers of Candice Catnipp's Schrift The Thunderbolt. This power gives Candice the ability to create, control, and project thunderbolts. This is done by generating lightning naturally in her hands and also by creating bolts of lightning from the sky. She also has the ability Lightning Jump which allows her to transform her whole body into lightning and move a short distance. Awfully impressive! She can also channel her power through her spirit weapon, using an ability called Galvano Blast to create a 5 gigajoule blast! For context, five gigajoules of energy is equal to a whole tonne of TNT exploding! Remember this measurement for the rest of the article.

Though she has few abilities here, her Vollständig Barbarriel gives her much more! Not only does it greatly amplify her lightning power, but she also gains plenty of abilities, such as flight and using the wings on her back as lightning blades. She also uses an ability called Galvano Javelin, in which she throws one of her swords like a javelin and it deals overwhelming power!

But can she go a step further? Yes indeed. By using Sklaverai to increase Barbarriel's power, Candice can release an even greater magnitude of lightning energy and use it for an ability called Electrocution, where she creates a giant column of electricity. Then she concentrated it around her arm and throws it at her opponent in a giant wave of electricity!

Takehiko Saito - Rakurai / Raijin Senbon

Well, shall we test and see if I could possibly match up against her? To be honest, I'd likely try a nice dinner and chat before settling the score with a battle but oh well. Strap in, this'll be a long one. As plenty of you have already seen, my zanpakutō is called Rakurai. My lightning generation is a bit more sciency but essentially utilizes cell vibration in order to generate lightning at large amounts. With Shikai comes three abilities; Gyaku Kyokusei (Reverse Polarity) which allows me to manipulate the cells in a person's body and change the electrical current in their cells from positive to negative. Not very scary right? Wrong. Doing this to every cell in the body can make a person's organs literally rip themselves apart. Thankfully, this can only be done to a certain area. The next ability is Rakurai san Kōgeki (Three Lightning Strikes). This ability is a nice and simple lightning bolt that generates up to 400 million volts of power. And the final ability, Den'atsu sakeru (Voltage Split). This is a highly destructive ability that generates a giant lightning dome. However, this has a 50/50 chance of causing an overcharge and essentially disintegrating me.

So, do I have anything that could combat Candice's Vollstandig? Well, taking a hypothetical future where I do attain bankai, I do have a little something. Raijin Senbon (Thousand Needles of the Thunder God). In my pretend Bankai, my sword shatters, turning into exactly one thousand metal needles, each carrying a high voltage. My hilt reforms into a metal glove with a huge needle on my middle finger that can harness electricity in any and all things. These needles are all controlled telepathically and can manipulate electrical charges in anything, especially people. These needles could do anything from paralysing someone's leg all the way to stopping their brain or even their heart. This bankai also comes with three abilities;

First is Raijin no ori (Thunder God’s Cage). This ability generates a giant lightning cage by sticking the needles in the ground around a group of enemies and electrifying them. If they try to escape, disintegration. Second, Hōkai (Collapse). All of the needles come together into one pinpoint projectile and fire simultaneously, completely disintegrating an opponent before they can feel any pain. And lastly, Kōten sokudo rakurai (Orbital Speed Lightning), which holds every needle in the air and fires down a giant storm of lightning, generating a total of 100 gigajoules of explosive power.
  But it doesn't end there. If I were to combat the Sklaverai empowered Barbarriel with something of my own, it would probably be a good time to use the Bankai Fusion technique and boy do I have something for that. Shin Raijin (True Raijin). This fusion ability turns my power from regular lightning to something called "dark lightning". Feel free to google that phenomenon. Essentially, it turns me into a being made of pure gamma radiation, breaking down everything around me at the molecular level and making it impossible to even be near me. The longer this form stays up, though, the more power I generate, slowly turning into something similar to a black star collapsing absorbing matter.

If that didn't suck enough for Candice, this form comes with only one ability, Muon shūen (Silent End). I point my finger upwards, condensing my gamma energy into a needle thin purple electrical beam. Unlike a lightning bolt, the beam makes no sound whatsoever or explode. Once it hits, the target does not explode or feel anything, they simply stop existing.

Final Battle - Rakurai vs The Thunderbolt

So, now that we've seen all of Candice's destructive power and my obsession with molecular funny business, let's engage in the final battle! Purely through power generation alone, I think it would be clear that I wouldn't stand much of a chance against Candice. Sure, I have plenty of abilities and perhaps if I could properly use my reverse polarity ability, I could really cause some serious damage. However, in terms of Schrift versus Shikai, I think Candice has me beaten.

But what about the second releases? Bankai versus Vollständig. If we assume Barbarriel can do at least twice as much damage as her Schrift... well she is probably still getting dusted. Thanos style. I'm not a humble person, Candice would be brain dead within seconds and I'd be halfway to lunch. So it's fair to say that a Skalverai powered Barbarriel would cease to exist against the gamma blasting, molecule eating nightmare that is Shin Raijin. A part of me slightly hopes I'll never obtain bankai. But, I still leave the final verdict to the crowd. Who do you think would win this battle?
